Bulgarian Gal is World's Chess Champion

Bulgaria's Antoaneta Stefanova won the World Chess Championship in Russia. She drew her host Ekaterina Kovalevska on Saturday.

Stefanova, aged 25, is the first Bulgarian woman to win the finals. In her previous games during the championship, she had scored victories, and a tie was enough to make her No.1.

Bulgarian Foreign Minister Solomon Passy was quick to send a congratulations telegram to Stefanova.

"You gave the world a proof that Bulgarian women are the most clever," the message said.
