Arizona: Foothills frosh chess team 1st in national tournament

Tucson has another national chess championship team.

Catalina Foothills High School freshmen won first place at last weekend's National Junior High (K-9) Championship at the Tucson Convention Center.

The group also won the U.S. Chess Federation-sponsored tournament the two previous years as students at Orange Grove Middle School, said Erwin De Sa, vice president of the Southern Arizona Chess Association.
