2012 Asian Chess Championship. Parimarjan Negi (2640), age 19, won the 11th Asian Continental Chess Championship, held in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. The event was held from May 4 through May 14, 2012.
2012 Australian Chess Championship. Darryl Johansen (2403) won the 2012 Australian Championship in January.
2012 Bulgarian Chess Championship. Ivan Cheparinov (2664) won the 2012 Bulgarian Championship, held in April.
2012 Catalan Chess Championship. Miguel Munoz Pantoja won the 2012 Catalan Championship on tie-break over Marc Narciso Dublan. The tournament took place in Barcelona from May 12 through May 19.
2012 Chinese Chess Championship. Liren Ding(2660) won his third Chinese Championship.
2012 Cuban Chess Championship. Leinier Dominguez-Perez (2725) won his fourth Cuban Championship. He had previously won in 2002, 2003, and 2006. Leiner defeated 5-time Cuban champion Lazaro Bruzon in a play-off match.
2012 Czech Chess Championship. David Navara (2706), age 27, won his fourth Czech Championship (he won in 2004, 2005, and 2010), held in Kouty nad Desnou from May 12 through May 20, 2012. He won on tiebreak over Alexej Kislinsky (2532). They both scored 7 out of 9 points.
2012 Danish Chess Championship. Sune Berg Hansen (2572) won the 2012 Danish Championship, held in Helsinki in April.
2012 Estonia Chess Championship. Mark Lipidus won the 2012 Estonian Championship, held in Tallinn. He was the lowest rated player in the 10-man event.
2012 European Chess Championship. Dmitry Jakovenko (2729), age 29, won the 2012 European Individual Championship in Plovdiv, Bulgaria. The tournament was held from March 19 to April 1.
2012 European Seniors Team Chess Championship. Russia won the European Seniors championship, led by GM Evgeni Vasiukov. The competition attracted 46 European teams from March 26 through April 5.
2012 European Women’s Chess Championship. Valentina Gunina of Russia won the European Women’s Championship, held in Turkey.
2012 Georgian Chess Championship. Baadur Jobava (2721), age 28, won his third Georgian Championship (he won in 2003 and 2007), scoring 11 out of 12 (10 wins, 2 draws, no losses). This was the 71st Georgian Championship, held in Tbilisi.
2012 German Chess Championship. Daniel Fridman won the German Championship, held in March.
2012 Iceland Chess Championship. Bragi Thorfinnsson and Thrustur Thorhallsson tied for 1st in the 2012 Icelandic Championship.
2012 Latvian Chess Championship. Vitalija Samolins won the 2012 Latvian Championship, held in Riga from April 29 through May 5.
2012 Lithuanian Chess Championship. Aloyzas Kveinys (2512) won the 2012 Lithuanian Championship, held in Vilnius in April.
2012 Moscow Chess Championship. Ivan Popov (2605) won the 2012 Moscow Championship, scoring 8 out of 9. The event took place in March.
2012 Polish Chess Championship. Mateusz Bartel won the 2012 Polish Championship, held in Warsaw in February.
2012 Russian Junior Chess Championship. Alexandr Shimanov (2591) won the Russian Junior Championship, held in Sochi in April.
2012 Russian Team Chess Championship. The Tomsk team won the 2012 Russian Team Championship, held in Sochi in April. The team was led by GM Sergey Karjakin and GM Ruslan Ponomariov.
2012 Saint Petersburg Chess Championship. Alexandr Shimanov won the 85th St. Petersburg Championship on tie-break over Denis Yevseev and Valerij Popov.
2012 Serbian Chess Championship. Ivan Ivanisevic (2645) won the Serbian Championship, held in Vrnjack Banja from April 23 through May 5.
2012 Uruguay Chess Championship. Andres Rodriguez Vila won the 2012 Uruguay Championship, scoring 10 out of 11. The event was held in March.
2012 US Chess Championship. Hikaru Nakamura (2775) won the US men’s championship. Irina Krush (2457) won the US women’s championship. The events were both held in Saint Louis in May.
2012 World Robot Blitz Chess Championship. ChessKA (Russia) defeated KUKA Monstr (Germany) in the 2012 World Robot Championship. The event was held on May 19 in Moscow. The games were played at 5 minutes per game. ChessKA won 3 games and drew one game to win the title. ChessKA was designed by Konstantin Kosteniuk, father of former world women’s champion Alexandra Kosteniuk.
